Threads through Creation and Threads through the Cross are an astonishing display of textile art inspired by the Bible. Textile artist Jacqui Parkinson retells the stories in a vibrant combination of silks, paint, metallic leathers and gold leaf – with 25 million stitches!
Threads through Creation looks at the story in the opening few pages of the bible. An exhilarating story with four key players: a good Creator God - Adam and Eve created by God in his image - and the beautiful, but evil, snake in the garden. All these ‘characters’ are clothed, to differing degrees, in mystery.
Threads through the Cross starts with the birth of Jesus - both human and godly - both ordinary and extraordinary. Then it moves quickly through the life of Jesus to his crucifixion - crucial to re-establishing the ‘all is good’ at the start of the Big Story. The end of satan and all that’s evil - the end of destruction and death. Then Jesus rose again from the grave! Followed by 50 days that turned the world around, culminating in the coming of the Holy Spirit in wind and
flames of fire - a day to be remembered!
Ten years’ dedication
Jacqui has been working for ten years to create these great sequences and it is one of the largest textile projects by a single artist, ever.
‘Such artistry and vision. What a privilege to be able to stand and stare.’
‘we have been “blown away!” Such amazing creative design and spiritual depth’
Perfect for all ages: you’ll find the work breathtaking and inspiring.
Children love it. And anyone who stitches will be fascinated to see Jacqui’s unique techniques.
